Project Selection Considerations This is a little different than our other categories because we are talking about building a wide range of totally different things. In many cases these projects may be ranked in order based on needs, at least initially, for most of us. Then as we get the priorities taken care of we often find many more interesting things that would be just be nice to have, and fun to build as well. For many of these projects, building them without plans or examples is certainly possible and its done to a large extent all the time. But WHY do it that way when you don't have too! It is much less frustrating and much more enjoyable when you have at least something to guide off of that will help keep you from having to learn any more than necessary from the Old School of Hard Knocks. Many projects of all types have been successfully built already by someone else, and often there are plans, or at least drawings of some sort available that can help make it much easier for you to complete your own project. Some times there may be a kit or materials lists that can further help. In other cases, even where no formal plans or kits exist, it is a least possible to look at pictures and comments of how someone else already built it, or built something similar. Although it may or may not be the same thing you are building, it may be close enough that their information can help save you many frustrating moments and make the project more enjoyable in the process. The links in this section will take you to common projects and photos of how others have built (or are still building) their projects. As always the hope is to inspire, and help guide you to information to make your own decisions, and then help motivate you to build it! Best wishes to you in all your projects both large and small! |
